The 2024 yuletide period wouldn’t come to an end without the hosting of the annual football tournaments and charity outreach of Yala’s foremost foundation, the Charles Offoboche Foundation (COF).

The foundation is committed to the yearly rituals of creating peace and uniting the fourteen (14) political wards of Yala LGA with football matches and reaching out to the needy.

The 2024 grand finale which was held outside the political ward of the Founder/President of COF, Hon. Charles Offoboche between Ijiraga and Yahe wards and ended in favour of the host ward, Yahe with three (3) goals to nil. The tough match was initially kicked off by both APC and PDP stalwarts of the Area council at the Oyi Onwu Secondary Grammar School football pitch. Dignitaries at the tournament include the Founder/President, Charles Offoboche Foundation, Hon. Charles Offoboche, Prof. JS Yusuf, Hon. John Ulafor, Mr. Aduma Ofana and a host of others.

As a ritual for the tournament, the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N100,000) was presented to the winning ward, Yahe and Fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) to Ijiraga for 2nd place as well as a brand new HP laptop to the best Player and another fifty thousand Naira to the 3rd goal scorer as promised by Prof. JS Yusuf, a dignitary present at the kick-off.

For the football teams in the participating wards, this would be the pinnacle of the yuletide as their gifts are handed over including money and other additional gifts but for the foundation, it wouldn’t be Uhuru if certain kitchens belonging to the needy within Okpoma ward are not lit-up during the New year celebration and as such, the foundation embarked on its 2024 “Share The Joy Christmas Food Outreach” and the joy train was in Idigbo, Ipuole Olachor, Adiero, Ochiubi Olacho communities respectively where a moderate bag size of rice and Maggie was distributed to the people in the spirit of celebration.

Also, during the New Year, there was a celebration galore in his residence where the crowd besieged the home of the Founder, Charles Offoboche, for a crossover celebration and the Suya Night was nothing short of merriment with the people as the highlights of the celebration include Prayer and worship, Dance, Drinks and Suya meat for all present.

You would recall that for nearly a decade now, this has been the yearly activity of the foundation among other empowerments which intends to encourage and bring stability to the young people including women of yala, Unite the people irrespective of Political affiliation and see to the wellbeing of the people.

The initiator, Hon. Offoboche has promised never to renege on this journey until the good becomes better and better, best for Yala.
